A Look At This Week

Sacramento State women’s soccer will continue Big Sky play this week as the Hornets travel to Idaho State on Friday, Oct. 25, at 2 p.m. before returning to Hornet Soccer Field for the final home match of the season against Weber State on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 1 p.m.

In the Hornets’ last meeting with Idaho State, Heather Steel’s goal in the 95th minute gave the Bengals a 1-0 overtime win over Sacramento State. Both teams remained scoreless through regulation before Steel received a pass from teammate Trish Bolander from the left side. Steel knocked the pass down and placed the game-winning goal over the outstretched arms of Hornet goalkeeper Amy Seely in the top right shelf.

Last season, Wildcat Lisa Pratt’s goal in the 99th minute of overtime gave Weber State a 3-2 win over Sacramento State. The Hornets took the early lead in the 15th minute after midfielder Katie DeClercq found the net on an assist by forward Lisa Wrightsman. Weber State evened things up in the 89th minute when forward Jennifer Cosnyka scored after set ups by Chelsea Brandt and Kami Kelley.
