WOMEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO NO. 7 WAKE FOREST, 3-0

Wake Forest’s Ann Bradley Robbins, Joline Charlton and Meagan Mullins each scored a goal as the No. 7 Demon Deacons defeated the Sacramento State women’s soccer team, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Hornet Soccer Field.The Hornets are now 1-9-1 overall and 0-1 in the Big Sky Conference while Wake Forest raised its record to 10-1-1on the season.
Robbins recorded the first goal for the Demon Deacons in the 33rd minute of the contest off a corner kick by Alli Hunt. The header gave Wake Forest a 1-0 advantage at the half.
Charlton added her goal in the 72nd minute following a set up by teammate Melanie Schnieder to give the Demon Deacons a solid lead. Mullins then scored her goal in the 87th minute by rifling a 30-yard shot past sophomore goalkeeper Michelle Balzouman. Balzouman recorded a career-high eight saves on the afternoon.
Senior Lisa Wrightsman led the Hornets with two shots, while Jaymie Kocer, Jessica Needham, Linda Sanchez and Mandi Siller each tallied a shot. Wake Forest outshot Sacramento State, 17-6.
The Hornets will travel to Oregon to face Portland State on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m.
