KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Freshman forward Kylee Kim-Bustillos was named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Women's Div. I All-Region team, the organization announced Wednesday. Kim-Bustillos is one of six players from the Big Sky Conference named to either the Second or Third Team All-Region.
Kim-Bustillos was named to the Second Team along with Chloe Williams, a senior from Eastern Washington University, and Mariel Gutierrez, a junior from the University of Northern Colorado. Three other members of the Big Sky - Taryn Miller and Janessa Fowler from the University of Montana and Jenny Chavez of EWU - were named to the Third Team All-Region.
Kim-Bustillos was the only freshman from the conference to make one of the all-region teams and just one of six named to either the first or second All-Region teams.
The Mililani, Hawaii native had a record setting season for the Hornets, scoring 11 goals - the most ever by a freshman - and leading the team with 26 total points (second in the Big Sky). Kim-Bustillos was named the Big Sky's Newcomer of the Year and made the Big Sky's first team all-Conference. She was also the Big Sky Player of the Week for the week of Aug. 22.
