KIM-BUSTILLOS NAMED BIG SKY WOMEN'S SOCCER OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO -- Freshman Kylee Kim-Bustillos has been named the Big Sky Conference's Offensive Player of the Week after helping Sacramento State to a season-opening split on the road last week at Saint Mary's (W, 2-1) and Nevada (L, 3-2).

The true freshman forward combined to score three goals, including the game winner in the victory at Saint Mary's. She accounted for both Hornet goals in the loss to Nevada. In fact, of the four goals Sacramento State combined to score during the week, Kim-Bustillos had three of them.

She becomes the first Hornet freshman to earn Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week accolades since Elece McBride on Oct. 6, 2008.

In the win at Saint Mary's, the Mililani, Hawaii, native scored an unassisted goal in the 54th minute which snapped a 1-1 tie and proved to be the game winner. Two days later at Nevada, she scored the game's first two goals, comprised of an unassisted tally in the 10th minute and another goal in the 25th minute.

Through two games, Kim-Bustillos has played 179 of a possible 192 minutes, and has three goals despite accounting for just five shots this season.

Kim-Bustillos also scored the game winner in the Hornets' lone exhibition game on Aug. 11, delivering the winning strike in a 1-0 home victory over Pacific.

Sacramento State (1-1) begins a season-long four-game homestand on Saturday against Fresno State at noon. Saturday will be Kids Day at Hornet Field as kids 12-under will be admitted free. In addition, free team posters will be given out to fans and there will be an autograph session with players and coaches after the game.
