BERKELEY, Calif. -- Sophomore My-Lan Dodd finished with a meet high 39.550 in the all-around to lead the 28th-ranked Golden Bears (196.475) to a tri-meet victory over 12th-ranked Washington (194.850) and the Sacramento State gymnastics team (189.775), Friday evening at Haas Pavilion. Sacramento State finished with a team-high score of 48.225 on vault but suffered falls on bars (two), beam (three) and floor (two). Sophomore Nirvana Zaher lead the squad with a team-high score of 9.725 to place tied for ninth on the event. Senior Jenny Diamond (9.700) and sophomores Jessica Hoffman (9.675) and Meloney Greer (9.625) also contributed on the event.
On bars, the Hornets finished with a score of 47.825. Freshman Kimiye Narasaki placed seventh in the meet with a career high 9.825. The Richmond, Calif., native shattered her previous high of 9.525. Greer placed tied for ninth with a score of 9.775 and Zaher finished with a career high 9.675 to also lead the squad.
Sacramento State finished with a meet low score of 46.175 on beam after suffering multiple falls on the apparatus. Freshman Trista Condren placed tied for eighth with a team high 9.625 while freshman Susan Williams (9.625) and senior Sarina Williams rounded out the Hornets’ top finishers for the event. For Susan Williams, a native of Beaverton, Ore., it was her the first competition of her collegiate career.
On floor the squad finished with a mark of 47.550. Diamond finished seventh with a mark of 9.775 while Hoffman (9.725) and Condren (9.575) rounded out the squad’s top finishers.
Hoffman (37.575) and Narasaki (36.275) were the lone Hornets to compete all-around.
Monique Chang helped lead the Golden Bears to their highest score in program history with event titles on vault (9.950) and bars (9.900) while Dodd and teammate Miho Maeda tied for first on beam with a score of 9.850. Stephanie Kim and Britani Pittullo of Cal also tied Carly Dockendorf of Washington on floor with a score of 9.900.
Sacramento State will next travel to 12th-ranked Washington on Friday, Feb. 28, to compete in a quad-meet with ninth-ranked Oregon State and Boise State at 7 p.m. in Bank of America Arena.
