GYMNASTICS SCORES 193.000 IN VICTORY OVER ALASKA ANCHORAGE

Kailey Hansen finished first on both beam and floor against Alaska Anchorage.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
 Nicole Meiller and Kailey Hansen each won two events and Kalliah McCartney finished first in the all-around to lead the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 193.000-190.325 victory over Alaska Anchorage on Sunday at the Hornets Nest.
 
The total also improved the Hornets’ regional qualifying score as the team was able to drop a 191.875. With the latest score, Sacramento State now has an RQS of 193.610.
 
Sacramento State opened the meet on vault and scored 48.575 behind a balanced effort which saw all five counting scores range between 9.700 and 9.750. Kaila KilweinEmiko Ono and Kalliah McCartney each scored 9.700 to tie for fourth place. Kailey Hansen scored 9.725 to place third while Meiller anchored the lineup with a 9.750 which tied Alaska’s Shakea Sanders for the top spot.
 
On bars, the Hornets were able to extend their lead with a team score of 48.250. Meiller continued her hot streak on bars, scoring 9.850 to win the event. The junior has now scored 9.8-plus in her last five routines. McCartney finished second overall with a 9.675 and Ashley Wooff tied for fourth with a 9.600. The team also counted a 9.575 from Ono and a 9.550 from Kilwein.
 
The third rotation took Sacramento State to beam where the Hornets ran into some trouble. After Kayla Wonderly hit her opening routine, the next three competitors for Sacramento State fell. Hansen put things back on track with a 9.775 to give the sophomore her first career title in the event. McCartney also contributed a 9.700. As a team, Sacramento State scored 47.300 on beam while the Seawolves tallied a 47.775 on floor.
 
The Hornets continued their late surge onto floor where Kaila Kilwein and Dallas Smith each scored 9.750 to begin the rotation. The back half of the lineup also came through as Cayla Beutler scored 9.775, McCartney added a 9.750 and Hansen won the event with a 9.850.
 
McCartney won the all-around for the second time this season with a four-event total of 38.825.
 
Sacramento State will host its final home meet of the year on Sunday, March 11, when it welcomes UC Davis, Central Michigan and Seattle Pacific at 2 p.m.
 
NOTES: The meet was the first home contest for Sacramento State since Feb. 3…Smith’s score on floor was her career high.
