BLAUVLET, GUERRERO EACH RECORD WINS AS GYMNASTICS CAPTURES THIRD STRAIGHT VICTORY

Amanda Blauvelt scored a career-high in the all-around and also finished first on bars.

FULLERTON, Calif. —
 Amanda Blauvelt finished first in the all-around and on bars and freshman Elideth Guerrero was victorious on beam to help Sacramento State to a 191.375-188.725 win at Cal State Fullerton.

The victory was the third in a row for the Hornets and helped the team to just its second win at Titan Gym in 12 attempts. Sacramento State improved to 5-4 on the year and is now 2-2 against WAC competition.

Blauvelt returned to the all-around after a one-week break and scored a career-best 38.350 to finish just ahead of the Titans' Alaina Baker (38.225). The senior was also first on bars after scoring 9.775. Blauvelt also tied for fourth on vault with a 9.600, tied for sixth on floor with a 9.600 and placed seventh on beam with a 9.375.

Competing in front local friends and family, Guerrero recorded her first collegiate win on beam after scoring 9.800. The freshman led a Hornet beam lineup which claimed four of the top five spots in the standings.

Sacramento State opened slowly, scoring 46.975 on bars in the first rotation which left the team trailing the Titans who scored 47.250 on vault. The Hornets took the lead during the second rotation with the help of a 48.025 on vault. Freshman Kailey Hansen paced the team and finished second overall with a 9.700. Katie Osaki was third with a 9.650 and Blauvelt and Maddie Montoya tied for fourth at 9.600.

The Hornets extended their lead during the third rotation after scoring 48.475 on floor compared to 46.300 from CSF on beam. Senior Jasmine Lipka finished second on floor with a 9.800 and Hansen was third at 9.775. Sacramento State also counted a 9.700 from Bethany Barrick and a pair of 9.600s from Blauvelt and Kaila Kilwein.

Both teams closed the meet with a 47.900 during the fourth rotation. Senior Lissa Zamolo finished second behind Guerrero with a 9.725. Lipka tied for third after scoring 9.525.

Baker finished first on vault (9.775) and floor (9.825) to lead the Titans.

Sacramento State will next begin a streak of three consecutive home meets starting on Feb. 25 against nationally-ranked Denver.
