GYMNASTICS POSTS ANOTHER SEASON BEST WITH 193.850 AT BOISE STATE
BOISE, Idaho — The Sacramento State gymnastics team continued its climb by scoring a season best 193.850 and raising its season high score for the fourth straight meet, Friday night at Boise State. The Hornets finished second in the three-team meet behind the host Broncos (195.075) and ahead of Seattle Pacific (190.500).
For the second time this week, the Hornets scored at least 48 points on each of the four events. Sacramento State opened on bars and tallied 48.450. The final five members of the Hornet lineup all scored 9.625 or better led by Eryn Stubblefield's career-high tying 9.775. Jasmine Lipka ranked second on the team at 9.700 and was followed by 9.675s from Nicole Meiller and Lauren Dyson. Amanda Blauvelt rounded out the scorers with a 9.625.
On beam, Sacramento State totaled 48.175. Cayla Boyce and Lipka each tied for first place along with Boise State's Kelsey Lang in the event. The trio each scored 9.775. Stubblefield was close behind with a 9.675 to finish sixth. The Hornets also counted a 9.600 from Lissa Zamolo and a 9.350 from Lizzy Norvell.
Sacramento State crushed its season high on floor with a total of 48.900. Lipka was one of three Hornets in the top four, recording a career best 9.900 to place only behind Boise State's Hannah Redmon (9.925). Boyce, Zamolo and Kaitie Kinser also scored career bests. Boyce and Zamolo each tallied 9.825 to tie for third while Kinser recorded a mark of 9.800 to tie for fifth. Stubblefield provided the fifth score of 9.550.
Meiller led the Hornets on vault with a career best score of 9.775. The freshman was followed by senior Traci Takeda who scored 9.750. Stubblefield (9.700), Zamolo (9.600) and Blauvelt (9.500) rounded out the lineup.
Overall, Boise State accounted for at least a share of each of the individual titles. Amy Glass, and Chelsee Aple tied for first on vault at 9.875. Redmon was first on bars (9.850) and floor (9.925) and Lang tied for the top spot on beam. Redmon also won the all-around with a four-event total of 39.225. Stubblefield was third at 38.700.
Sacramento State returns home on Friday, Feb. 19, to host San Jose State in the annual "Think Pink" meet which begins at 7 p.m.
