SAN JOSE, Calif. --- Senior Binta Coleman won the beam with a 9.900 to help lead the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a win over San Jose State and UC Davis Friday night at Spartan Gym. The Hornets used a balanced attack en route to scoring 194.050. Host SJSU was second with 193.925 while UC Davis was third with a season-best 192.350.The Hornets scored at least 48.300 on all four events to record their second 194-plus score this season. The team posted marks of 48.750 on vault, 48.450 on beam, 48.550 on uneven bars and 48.300 on floor.
Coleman was the lone individual winner for the Hornets. However, the team finished second through fifth on vault led by juniors Jessica Hoffman (9.825) and Nirvana Zaher (9.775)
Hoffman was also the team’s top scorer on bars with a 9.850.
San Jose State''s Jennifer Greene won the individual all-around at 39.125, barely edging Zaher, who scored 39.100. Shirla Choy placed third with a four-event total of 39.075. Coleman was fourth in the all-around with a total of 38.850.
Greene also captured the floor exercise title at 9.900 while Choy won bars with a 9.925. UC Davis'' Tiffany Chan claimed top honors on vault with a 9.850.
The Aggies and Hornets face off again on Sunday at Recreation Hall on the UC Davis campus.
