HORNET GYMNASTICS FINISHES WITH THIRD HIGHEST SCORE IN PROGRAM HISTORY DURING TWO-MEET ROAD TRIP

FULLERTON, Calif.-- The Sacramento State gymnastics team tied its third-best score in program history with a 193.625 against Cal State Fullerton (195.075) and Illinois (193.925) Saturday evening at Titan Gym.

The previous 193.625 mark was set at the Western Independent Championship on Mar. 18 last season.

Seniors Jolane Parr and Jami Scoville led the Hornets in scoring with 9.850's on floor exercise as the Hornets scored over 48 on every event. Junior Wendy Baisdon led the team on balance beam with a 9.800 while junior Lori Gillete led the team on uneven bars with a 9.775.

The Hornets, who extended their 190-plus scoring streak to 17, have an chance to become the first team in program history to score over 190 in every meet during a season.

On Friday, Sacramento State began its two-meet road trip with a, 191.300-187.325, win over the Gauchos of UC Santa Barbara in Robertson Gym.

The Hornets swept all events on the evening led by Parr and Scoville's 9.800 on the floor exercise. Freshman Binta Coleman finished with a 38.000 all-around and also tied teammate Jenny Ball for the top spot on vault with a 9.600. Baisdon (9.725, bars) and junior Melissa Prescott (9.725, beam) also finished first in their respective events.

Sacramento State, now 6-5 on the seaon, will return to Hornet Gym for senior night as the Hornets take on UC Davis and Alaska Anchorage at 7 p.m.
