GYMNASTICS CLOSES OUT SEASON AT NCAA REGIONAL

SEATTLE — The Sacramento State gymnastics team concluded its 2009 season with three gymnasts competing at the NCAA West Regional, Saturday night at Bank of America Arena.
Senior Marina Borisova and junior Eryn Stubblefield each competed in the all-around. Borisova scored 38.350 to place 14th while Stubblefield totalled 37.775 and placed 17th. Borisova scored 9.725 on vault but fell on bars resulting in a 9.250. She bounced back with a 9.550 on beam and scored 9.825 on floor which tied for 14th overall. Stubblefield scored 9.575 on vault, 9.500 on bars, 9.775 on beam and 8.925 on floor.
The Hornets also had junior Traci Takeda competing as an event specialist on beam. Takeda scored 9.350 to finish 37th.
Utah and Illinois claimed the top two team spots in the competition and will advance to the NCAA Championships in Lincoln, Neb. Utah scored 197.675 while Illinois totalled 196.700.
