BORISOVA EARNS THIRD WAC GYMNAST OF THE WEEK AWARD THIS SEASON

DENVER, Colo. — For the third time this season, Sacramento State’s Marina Borisova has been named the Western Athletic Conference’s Gymnast of the Week. Borisova most recently won the all-around and beam competitions in a meet at San Jose State on Feb. 6.
Against the Spartans, Borisova had a four-event total of 38.950, which was the best in the conference for the week. The senior scored 9.700 on vault, 9.650 on bars, 9.825 on beam and 9.775 on floor.
The Sacramento native is currently ranked in the top 50 nationally in the all-around as well as on bars and beam. She is also ranked among the top five in the WAC on bars (fifth), beam (second), and floor (fifth). Her all-around average of 39.095 ranks second in the league.
Borisova has finished first in the all-around in four of the team’s five meets this year. She has been honored as the WAC Gymnast of the Week on Jan. 10 and Jan. 17.
Sacramento State will host San Jose State in a rematch of last week’s action on Sunday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. The meet will also serve as the team’s annual “Think Pink” meet which benefits the Mercy Foundation for cancer research.
