TAKEDA NAMED WAC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

1/26/2009

DENVER — Sacramento State junior Traci Takeda was named the Western Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Takeda during her career.

Against Southern Utah, the Clovis, Calif., native finished first on beam with a career high score of 9.925. Her mark places her in a three-way tie for second place in Sacramento State history — trailing only Melissa Genovese's 9.950. Takeda's score is also the highest by a WAC gymnast on beam this year. Takeda also set a career high on vault during the meet with a score of 9.750.

Sacramento State, which is ranked 31st nationally, will hold its first home meet of the season on Friday, Jan. 30, when the team welcomes Illinois State. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hornets Nest.
