GYMNASTICS SIGNS NICOLE MEILLER TO NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT
11/21/2008
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State gymnastics team signed Nicole Meiller to a National Letter of Intent, it was announced today. Meiller will enroll at the University as a freshman in September 2009.
A native of Aurora, Ill., Meiller has competed in gymnastics for the past 15 years. As a member of Phenom Gymnastics, Meiller was a level 10 regional bar champion in 2008 with a score of 9.7. She also placed second on vault with a 9725 and was a national qualifier in both events.
“We are very excited to have Nicole join our program next year,” Sacramento State head coach Kim Hughes said. “She is a talented gymnast who will instantly make us better on bars and vault but also has the ability to compete in the all-around. On bars, she does a triple-twisting flyaway release move that no one on our team has ever done.”
Meiller will rejoin her former club teammate April Lynn Gemein who is currently a freshman for the Hornets. Sacramento State, which has qualified for the NCAA postseason each of the past three years, begins its 2009 season on Jan. 10 in a three-team meet against Cal and UC Davis.
