THREE'S NOT A CROWD: GENOVESE EARNS WAC SPECIALIST HONOR AGAIN

DENVER — Sacramento State gymnast Melissa Genovese was named the Western Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the third for Genovese this season and the fourth of her career.
This past Sunday, the senior scored 9.900 to finish first on balance beam against Alaska Anchorage. The win was the sixth for Genovese this season in nine meets and continued a streak in which Sacramento State has had the top individual score on beam in every meet this year. The score was the second best this season for the El Dorado Hills, Calif., native, trailing only her 9.925 which set the school record on Feb. 15.
Genovese also had success on floor with a 9.850 against the Seawolves. That mark tied for the top score in the along with teammate Alycia Chan.
Sacramento State will next compete in a four-team meet on Friday, March 7. The meet, which will also include UC Davis, Cal and Seattle Pacific, will begin at 7 p.m. in the Hornets Nest. Following the meet, the Hornets will honor their five seniors who will be competing at home for the final time.
