GENOVESE NAMED WAC SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State's Melissa Genovese has been named the Western Athletic Conference Specialist of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Genovese this season.

A junior from El Dorado Hills, Calif. (Charter Community), Genovese continued her dominance on beam this season, winning for the fourth time in six meets. She scored 9.875 at Cal State Fullerton on Feb. 2 and is now averaging 9.763 which leads the WAC.

The Hornets had their three-meet winning streak snapped against the Titans. Sacramento State is now 2-2 against WAC foes this season. The Hornets continue to lead the league on balance beam with an average of 47.795.

Southern Utah freshman Elise Wheeler was named the all-arounder of the week after scoring 39.050 at the Utah Super Meet.

Sacramento State will next be in action on Friday, Feb. 9, at Seattle Pacific. The team's next home meet will come on Friday, Feb. 16, against Alaska Anchorage.
