Sacramento State improved to 10-10 on the season while UC Davis dropped to 2-14. The Hornets also defeated the Aggies for the 16th-consecutive time and the Sacramento State seniors end their career 15-0 against their Causeway rivals.

The Hornets opened the meet on bars and scored a season-high 48.975. Sophomore Amber Basgall finished first overall with a career-high 9.850. Sophomore Alexis Tsurumoto and senior Kimiye Narasaki tied for second at 9.825. Sacramento State also counted high scores from Carrie Kinghorn (9.775) and Marina Borisova (9.700).

The team then turned its attention to vault where it tallied a 48.650. Senior Brooke Morari finished first overall with a 9.850. Senior Trista Condren tied for second with a 9.825. Narasaki and Borisova also compiled a 9.725.

On floor, the team notched its eighth-best score in school history with a 49.100. Condren led the team and finished first overall with a 9.875. Borisova, who entered the meet ranked fourth in the West Region, was second at 9.850. Basgall and Kinghorn each tallied a 9.800 and the team also counted a 9.775 from Brooke Morari.

Sacramento State completed the event sweep on beam where Melissa Genovese and Narasaki tied for first with 9.900s. The scores are tied for the second-highest mark in school history. For Genovese, it was the second 9.900 of her career. Borisova tied for third with a 9.825.

Borisova won the all-around for the third-straight meet. The freshman scored 39.100 to rank seventh in school history.

The meet marked the final dual meet of the 2006 season. The team will next compete at the Western Athletic Conference Championships on Saturday, March 25, at Utah State. Friday’s meet was also the final home meet for UC Davis head coach and former Sacramento State gymnast Ray Goldbar who is retiring at the end of the year.
