GYMNASTICS SCORES SEASON HIGH 195.175 IN WIN OVER UC DAVIS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Sacramento State swept the top three spots on all four events en route to a season high 195.175 in a victory over UC Davis on Sunday at the Hornets Nest. The Aggies scored a season-high 192.450.

Sacramento State’s score was the fourth best in school history and keeps the team in the hunt for an NCAA Regional berth.

Due to a transportation delay with two of the judges, the meet began with both teams on vault. The Hornets opened by tying the school record with a 49.050. Senior Trista Condren led the way with a 9.875 — tying for the ninth highest in school history. Sophomore Amber Basgall finished second with a 9.850 and senior Brooke Morari was third at 9.825.

UC Davis amassed a 48.250 on vault. Michelle Kulovitz and Brandi Forte tied for the team high with 9.675.

The teams both moved to bars with the Aggies beginning with a 48.000. Forte scored 9.750 and Arianne Furman added a 9.625. The Hornets extended their lead with a 48.700. Sophomore Alexis Tsurumoto and Basgall each scored 9.800 to tie for first. Freshman Marina Borisova was third at 9.750.

The team returned to the traditional rotation following bars. The Hornets tallied a season high 48.600 on beam which ranks eighth in school history. Sophomore Melissa Genovese paced the team with a 9.850. Tiffany Bass was second at 9.750 and senior Kimiye Narasaki was third at 9.725.

On floor, UC Davis scored a season best 48.150. Julia Richards recorded a team season high 9.750 and Hanna Anderson had a 9.700.

During the final rotation, Sacramento State amassed 48.825 on floor. Borisova won the competition with a career-high tying 9.875. Carrie Kinghorn was second with a 9.800 and Bass finished third at 9.775.

On beam, the Aggies tallied 48.050 and were led by a pair of 9.700s from Anderson and Megan Nakagawa.

The meet marked the final home competition for the Sacramento State this season. The team honored eight student-athletes following the meet. The Hornets will next compete at UC Davis on Friday, March 17, at 7 p.m. The final regular season meet of the year will come on March 25 at the Western Athletic Conference Championships in Logan, Utah.
