STEFANIE AEDER NAMED MPSF CO-GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

3/1/2005

WOODLAND, Calif. — Sacramento State senior Stefanie Aeder was named co-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, it was announced today. Aeder shared the honor with Tiffany Chan of UC Davis.

Aeder helped lead the Hornets to a first-place finish in a three-way meet featuring UC Davis and Alaska Anchorage. The Portland, Ore., native tied her season high with a 9.925 on floor to place first in the event. Her mark is the best in the MPSF this season and raised her Regional Qualifying Score to 9.870. Aeder currently ranks fourth in the West Region and is tied for 20th in the nation on floor. Her regional score trails only UCLA’s Tasha Schwikert, Kristen Maloney and Kate Richardson — all of whom are former Olympians.

Sacramento State will travel to Seattle Pacific on Saturday, March 5, for its final road dual meet of the season. The team closes its regular season with home meets against UC Davis (March 13) and Cal State Fullerton (March 18). The MPSF Championships will take place on March 25 at UC Davis. As a team, the Hornets currently lead the MPSF in overall score and also pace the conference on vault, bars and floor. Sacramento State is also sixth in the West Region. The top six teams will advance to the NCAA West Regional on April 9th in Seattle.
