DAVIS, Calif. --- Junior Meloney Greer finished first on bars and tied for third on vault and junior Stefanie Aeder tied for first on floor to help lead the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 192.175-192.050 victory over UC Davis, Sunday afternoon at Recreation Hall.The Hornets opened the meet with a 47.650 on bars and trailed the Aggies by .125. Greer led the team and won the individual title on bars with a 9.800. Junior Jessica Hoffman tied for second on the event with a 9.750 and Nirvana Zaher was fourth with 9.650.
Sacramento State recovered from its slow start with a 48.475 on vault. That mark lifted the team to a .425 lead midway through the meet. The team had a balanced effort with all six gymnasts scoring above 9.625. Zaher led the team and was second in the meet with a 9.750. Greer and freshman Tiffany Bass tied for third with 9.700. One meet after claimed second through fifth in vault, the Hornets claimed second through seventh against the Aggies.
The Hornets continued to pull away following the third rotation as they scored 48.300 on floor to take a .975 advantage. Junior Stefanie Aeder paced the squad with a 9.800. Bass recorded a 9.775 and senior Binta Coleman added a 9.700.
Sacramento State’s lead began to slip away on the final rotation as UC Davis was near-perfect on floor and the Hornets had their struggles on beam. The Aggies scored ? led by ?. Conversely, Sacramento State opened beam with four scores below 9.600 but rallied behind Coleman and Bass who scored 9.700 and 9.725, respectively, on the final two routines.
