2/15/2004

SACRAMENTO, Calif. --- Sacramento State scored 48.750 on floor to defeat Alaska Anchorage, 192.250-192.075, Sunday afternoon at the Hornets Nest. The victory was the 28th in a row by the Hornets against the Seawolves dating back to 1992.

Sacramento State entered floor, its final rotation, down .375. The Hornets opened the event with a 9.750 from freshman Tiffany Bass and added a 9.800 from junior Nirvana Zaher and 9.775 from junior Stefanie Aeder to pull off the victory. Until floor, the Hornets endured problems through their first three rotations. The team scored 48.475 on vault to open the meet but then followed with 47.400 on bars. That score was the second-lowest for Sacramento State this season and counted a pair of falls.

The team improved slightly on the balance beam with a total score of 47.625. Freshman Tiffany Bass won the individual title with a career-high 9.850. Sophomore Trista Condren was second in the event with a 9.750.

Overall, Sacramento State captured three of the five individual titles with Coleman winning on bars, Bass on beam and Zaher on floor. Freshman Dominique Ingram captured the all-around title with a school-record of 38.900. Ingram also won on vault with a 9.850.

Alaska Anchorage, which is in its first season of Div. I competition, set the school record for overall points. The Seawolves’ previous high came earlier this season against UC Davis where they score 190.300.

Sacramento State will travel to San Jose State on Friday, Feb. 20 to face the Spartans and UC Davis in a three-way meet. The team will then compete at UC Davis on Sunday, Feb. 22.
