GYMNASTICS RECORDS SEASON-BEST SCORE IN WIN OVER SEATTLE PACIFIC

Sophomores Jessica Hoffman and Nirvana Zaher each recorded career-high all-around marks to lead the Sacramento State gymnastics squad to a 193.000-192.325 win over Seattle Pacific Friday evening at the Hornets Nest. The Hornets have now improved their overall score in three-consecutive meets while also tallying their highest total of the season.

The Falcons led after three rotations, 144.050-144.075, but the Hornets outscored the Falcons on floor (48.925-47.875) to capture the come-from-behind victory. For Sacramento State, the floor score was a season-high mark.

Zaher, a native of Cairo, Egypt, finished second all-around with a score of 38.825. Zaher finished first on vault with a mark of 9.750 and also recorded a career-high 9.725 on bars to help pace the squad. Hoffman an finished third all-around with a score of 38.600 while also placing tied for third on beam with a career-high 9.675. The Escondido, Calif., native registered marks of 9.600 on vault, 9.600 on bars and 9.725 on floor to capture her career-best mark.

Junior Binta Coleman recorded a career-high 9.850 on bars and senior Jenny Diamond tallied a 9.850 on floor to round out the Hornets’ event champions. Diamond, a native of Murray, Utah, also placed second on vault with a score of 9.725.

Also placing in the top three for the Hornets were sophomore Meloney Greer (9.825, second) on bars and sophomore Stefanie Aeder (9.800, second) on floor. Freshman Trista Condren placed third on floor with a career-best 9.775 while also tying for third on beam (9.675).

Seattle Pacific’s Corrie McDaniel led all competitors with a score of 38.975 to capture the all-around title. McDaniel also placed first on beam with a score of 9.825.

Sacramento State will next host UC Davis and Air Force on Saturday, March 22, at 7 p.m. at the Hornets Nest. The meet will mark the final regular season contest for the Hornets.
