The Sacramento State gymnastics team finished with its highest team score of the season (192.575) but placed third at the Cal State Fullerton Tri-Meet, Sunday afternoon at Titan Gym. San Jose State won the event with a score of 194.050 while the Titans (193.625) and Hornets rounded out the rest of the field. The contest marked the end of Sacramento State''s season-long five meet road trip.Sophomore Nirvana Zaher placed second all-around with a score of 38.675 to lead the squad. The Cairo, Egypt, native has now led the Hornets in the all-around in two-consecutive meets. San Jose State''s Dani Albright finished first with a 39.225.
Senior Jenny Diamond led the squad on vault with a score of 9.750. Zaher tied for third on the event with a mark of 9.725. Albright took the event title with a 9.800.
On bars, sophomore Jessica Hoffman led the Hornets with a second-place mark of 9.825. For the Escondido, Calif., native it was her career-high score for the event. Cal State Fullerton''s Brooke Weigandt finished first with a score of 9.850.
Zaher also led the Hornets on beam with a score of 9.750. She tied for second on the event with Kristen Parker (Titans) and Becca Ronzio (Spartans). Amberly Klein captured the event title for San Jose State with a mark of 9.800.
On floor, sophomore Stefanie Aeder and Zaher both led the Hornets with score of 9.825. For Zaher, the mark tied a career high. San Jose State''s Jennifer Greene and Albright tied for first on the event with a 9.950.
Sacramento State will next host Seattle Pacific on Friday, March 14, at 7 p.m. in the Hornets Nest.
