The Sacramento State gymnastics team finished with its second-highest score of the season (191.775) as the Hornets placed fourth at the Washington quad-meet, Friday evening at Bank of America Arena. Washington, who was 12th in the national polls, placed first with a score of 197.050 while ninth-ranked Oregon State (196.475) and Boise State (194.775) rounded out the rest of the field.Sophomore Jessica Hoffman placed 10th all-around with a score of 38.575 to lead the Hornets. Oregon State’s Lindsey Nelson led all competitors with a mark of 39.475.
On vault, the Hornets were led by freshman Trista Condren (12th) with a score of 9.750 and sophomore Nirvana Zaher (14th) with a mark of 9.725. Washington ‘s Kelly McDonald placed first in the event with a 9.975.
On bars, sophomore Meloney Greer and Hoffman tied for 18th with a score of 9.700 to lead the squad. McDonald placed first on the event with a mark of 9.950.
Freshman Trista Condren led the Hornets with a 9.625 on beam (13th). Washington’s Stacy Wong led all competitors with a 9.950.
On floor, senior Jenny Diamond finished 16th with a score of 9.750 while sophomore Stefanie Aeder placed 18th with a 9.650. Aeder, a native of Portland, Ore., competed in her first contest since Jan. 12 against Cal. Aeder had been sitting out with a wrist (torn ligament) and elbow (bone chip) injury to her left arm but decided to complete the season.
Sacramento State will next travel to Seattle Pacific to face the Falcons on Saturday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in Brougham Pavilion.
