SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Senior Jenny Diamond and freshman Kimiye Narasaki each recorded event titles to lead the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 192.325-191.325 win over UC Davis, Sunday afternoon at Recreation Hall. The Hornets raised their record to 3-3 on the year while the Aggies fell to 2-4.Sacramento State established an early lead after the first two rotations by a margin of 96.325-94.6256, including a score of 48.450 on vault. The Aggies closed the gap on beam and floor with a 96.700-96.000 advantage but could not overcome its early deficit.
Narasaki, a native of Richmond, Calif., placed first on vault (9.825) and tied for first on beam (9.775), second all-around (38.900), and tied for third on floor (9.775) to lead the Hornets. Narasaki’s all-around score was a season high. Diamond, a native of Murray, Utah, tied Narasaki on beam with a 9.775 while also placing second on vault (9.700) and tied for third on floor.
Sophomore Jessica Hoffman tallied her first collegiate score in the all-around with a third-place mark of 38.050. The Escondido, Calif., native also tied for second on bars with a 9.775 while registering a 9.650 on vault and a 9.550 on floor.
Freshmen Trista Condren (9.750, floor) and Sharee Burgess (9.700, floor) also contributed for the Hornets. For Burgess, a native of Stockton, Calif., it was her season high. Seniors Brooke Crowell (bars, 9.500) and Sarina Williams (beam, 9.550) also contributed their first team scores of the season.
Senior Flora Bare finished first on floor (9.850) and in the all-around (38.950) to lead the Aggies. Senior Lynn Schwaebe captured to the bar title with a 9.825 to also lead the squad.
Sacramento State will take a week off before hosting San Jose State on Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. in the Hornets Nest.
