GYMNASTICS COMPLETES WEEKEND SWEEP OVER ALASKA ANCHORAGE

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Junior Binta Coleman, sophomore Nirvana Zaher and freshman Kimiye Narasaki combined to win every event to lead the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 191.225-181.725 win over Anchorage Alaska, Saturday evening at the UAA Sports Center.

The Hornets raised their record to 2-2 on the year while the Seawolves dropped to 0-2. Sacramento State has now improved its overall score in each meet this season.

Sacramento State dominated from the start as the Hornets won handily on bars (46.275-42.825), vault (48.8-45.175), floor (47.825-46.875) and beam (48.325-46.85).

Zaher, competing in her first collegiate all-around, led all competitors with a meet-high 38.575. The Cairo, Egypt native also placed second on vault (a career-best 9.875), bars (9.225), beam (9.725) and floor (9.75).

Narasaki, a native of Richmond, Calif., placed first on vault with a season-high 9.9 and beam with a meet-high 9.8. Narasaki, who also was competing in her first all-around,placed fourth with a score of 37.050. The freshman''s vault mark places her tied for fifth in the program record book. It was also the highest score since former Hornet Rebecca Seebirt recorded the same mark at UC Santa Barbara in 1997.

Coleman, a native of Elk Grove, Calif., placed first on bars (9.65) and floor (9.775) while also finishing second in the all-around (38.075).

Senior Jenny Diamond placed third on beam (9.7) and fifth on vault (9.625) and freshman Trista Condren finished third on floor (9.675) and fourth on vault (9.65) to also help the squad.

Sacramento State will return to the Hornet Nest to host Cal State Fullerton on Sunday, Jan. 26, at 2 p.m.
