SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Senior Lori Gillette was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week after recording a career-best 9.875 on bars for the second-consecutive week it was announced today. Gillette joins sophomore Binta Coleman (Jan. 21) as the only Hornet recipients of the conference award.

Gillette set a career high on bars with a 9.875 to help the Hornets to a 193.925-192.350 win over Boise State on Feb. 10 in Hornet Gym. The team’s mark was the fourth-highest in program history and gave Sacramento State their first win over the Broncos in five tries since joining the Div. I ranks in 1992.

The Encinitas, Calif., native tied her career mark for the second-consecutive week against Seattle Pacific on Feb. 15 in Hornet Gym. The score helped the Hornets to a season-high 49.200 for the event.

Gillette currently ranks 57th in the nation on bars with an average score of 9.790. Her average for the event also ranks her 10th in the West Region. The senior’s efforts also places Sacramento State 27th in the nation and fifth in the West Region with an average score of 48.480 for the event.

Sacramento State is 4-4 overall and currently ranks eighth in the West Region with an average score of 190.535. The top six teams earn a trip to Oregon for NCAA Regionals on April 6. As of Feb. 18, Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, Washington, Cal State Fullerton and Boise State rank in the top six spots.

The Hornets will look to avenge their home loss to Seattle Pacific on Feb. 15 as the squad travels to Brougham Pavilion for a rematch with the Falcons on Friday, Feb. 22, at 7 p.m.
