McCARTNEY WINS SECOND STRAIGHT WAC ATHLETE OF THE WEEK AWARD

DENVER — Sacramento State's Kalliah McCartney was named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week for the second consecutive week, it was announced today.

McCartney captured her third all-around title in as many meets this season with a 39.200 in a three-team meet against Arizona State and San Jose State. The Vancouver, Calif., native also tied for first on beam with a 9.775, was second on bars (9.825), tied for third on floor (9.800) and was fourth on vault (9.800).

Through three meets this season, McCartney ranks 31st nationally with an all-around average of 39.108. She is also averaging at least 9.742 on all four events.

Denver's Kaitlin Moorhead was the WAC Specialist of the Week after scoring 9.875 on vault.

Sacramento State will next travel to San Jose State on Friday, Jan. 25, to face the Spartans for the third time in four weeks. The team's next home meet will come on Feb. 22 against UC Davis.
