KALLIAH McCARTNEY NAMED WAC GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

DENVER — Sacramento State sophomore Kalliah McCartney has been named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week for the week of Jan. 7-13.

In the team's decisive victory over Seattle Pacific, McCartney finished first on vault, beam and floor en route to winning the all-around. Her four-event total of 39.300 was the third highest of her career and tied her for seventh in school history. McCartney has now scored 39-plus seven times in 15 career meets.

In the most recent meet, the Vancouver, Wash., native scored 9.800 on both vault and bars and 9.850 on beam and floor. The victory in the all-around was her second in as many meets this season.

Denver's Nina McGee was the WAC Specialist of the Week with a floor score of 9.950.

Sacramento State will return to action on Friday, Jan. 18, when it welcomes Arizona State and San Jose State to The Nest at 7 p.m.
