GYMNASTICS INKS MELONY GREER OF IDAHO AS THE SECOND SIGNEE OF THE YEAR

5/1/2001

SACRAMENTO, Calif.-- The Sacramento State gymnastics team announced the signing of Couer D'Alene, Idaho, native Melony Greer on Tuesday. Greer will enroll at Sacramento State as a freshman in the fall of 2001.

A senior at Lake City High School, Greer was the Idaho Level

10 State Champion on uneven bars, floor exercise and all-around. She

also finished second at the Level 10 USAG Region 2 Championships in

the all-around, vault and bars competitions.

Greer joins Dana Raeber of Visalia, Calif., as the first two

signees of the season. Both athletes will look to help fill gaps left

by graduating seniors Elizabeth Lutz, Jolane Parr and Jami Scoville.

Raeber joined the Hornet program during the early signing period in

November.

Sacramento State head coach Kim Hughes expects both Greer and

Raeber to make an impact for the Hornets on bars and vault in 2002.
