SEVEN GYMNASTS AND TEAM RECOGNIZED BY NACGC/W FOR ACADEMIC SUCCESS

SACRAMENTO, Calif. —
Seven Sacramento State gymnastics as well as the team received Scholastic All-America accolades from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches/Women for 2012.

The Hornets honored (in alphabetical order) were junior Cayla Beutler, sophomore Kaila Kilwein, freshman Kalliah McCartney, junior Nicole Meiller, senior Emiko Ono and freshmen Dallas Smith and Kayla Wonderly.

As a team, the Hornets posted a 3.2847 team grade point average which placed them 36th nationally.

The NACGC/W awards Scholastic All-America honors to student-athletes who have compiled a GPA of 3.5 or higher during the last academic year or cumulatively throughout their collegiate career. Unlike the Western Athletic Conference, there are no restrictions for academic year or participation.

During the regular season, 11 members of the team earned academic all-WAC honors. To earn the award, an individual must have a 3.0 GPA and compete in at least 50 percent of the team competitions.
