JORDYN BRENT NAMED MPSF GYMNAST OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Jordyn Brent was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week after guiding the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 192-600-192.500 victory over San Jose State on Feb. 8 at The Nest. Brent finished first on bars, floor and in the all-around while setting or tying career highs in all three.

The Los Angeles native started the meet with a team-high 9.675 on vault. From there, she matched her career high with a 9.850 on bars. That score was easily the best in the meet and sparked the Hornets to a season high on the apparatus. Brent moved to beam where she scored 9.725 to rank third on the team. During the final rotation, she secured the Sacramento State victory with a 9.875 on floor to easily surpass her career high.

Overall, Brent totaled 39.050 in the all-around to finish in first place. Her score marked the first time during her career that she has exceeded 39 points in the all-around. The victory in the all-around and on floor were the first of her career while her win on bars was her third.

Sacramento State will next compete in a three-team meet at San Jose State and containing New Hampshire on Friday, Feb. 15.
