GYMNASTICS STARTS 2019 SEASON WITH FLIPFEST ON SATURDAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State gymnastics team will hold its first public performance of the year on Saturday, Dec. 8, with its annual FlipFest. The intrasquad meet will begin at 5 p.m. in The Nest and is free to the public.

Hornet gymnasts will be divided into two teams (Green & Gold) with both teams competing on all four events. Each routine will also be judged.

The Hornets return 12 gymnasts from last year's team and added a six-member freshman class. Sacramento State will be looking to fill vacancies left by the graduation of six seniors, including a trio of all-arounders. This season's senior class is comprised of just three seniors in Carly Pratt, Jackie Sampson and Lauren Schmeiss. All three were in the starting lineup a year ago and will anchor a roster which has 12 underclassmen.

The Hornets will make their 2019 regular season debut at the NorCal meet which returns to the Sacramento State campus. The meet will be held on Saturday, Jan. 6, and will also include, Stanford, San Jose State and UC Davis.
