BOISE, Idaho — The Sacramento State gymnastics team could not overcome counting falls in its first two rotations in a 196.725-193.450 loss to No. 14 Boise State on Friday night at Taco Bell Arena. The score ended the Hornets' streak of three consecutive meets of at least 194 points.

Sacramento State opened the meet on bars and scored 48.300 but trailed the Broncos who scored 49.075 on vault. The Hornets were led by Caitlin Soliwoda and Courtney Soliwoda who each scored 9.825 to tie for fifth place. Freshman Jordyn Brent and junior Jackie Sampson added 9.775s to tie for eighth overall. However, the team had a pair of falls during the rotation and were forced to count a 9.100 towards the team total. 

The Broncos stretched their lead during the second rotation as BSU scored 49.300 on bars compared to 47.925 from the Hornets on vault. Caitlin Soliwoda tied for sixth overall and led the team with a 9.750. The Hornets also received a 9.700 from Courtney Soliwoda, a 9.675 from Jennifer Brenner and a 9.600 from Alexi Belkoff. Like bars, the team had a pair of falls on vault.

Sacramento State scored 48.500 on floor with Annie Juarez tying for fourth place with a 9.825. The senior has now scored 9.8-plus in five consecutive meets. Lauren Schmeiss and Caitlin Soliwoda each received a 9.725 to tie for seventh place. Carly Pratt and Jackie Sampson completed the team score with a 9.675 and 9.550, respectively.

The Hornets had their highest score of the night on beam in the final rotation. Courtney Soliwoda tied Boise State's Sarah Means for the top spot as each scored 9.875. Freshman Kendra Braida finished in sixth place with a 9.750. and Juarez was seventh with a 9.725.

Shani Remme of Boise State, who's ranked 10th nationally, finished first in the all-around with a total of 39.450. Caitlin Soliwoda placed third at 38.975.

Sacramento State will return to The Nest for its final two meets of the regular season. The team will welcome Minnesota, Cal and Alaska Anchorage on Friday, March 9. A week later, the Hornets will host Arizona State, Oregon State and UC Davis on Senior Night.
