GYMNASTICS RECORDS FIVE TOP-10 FINISHES AT NCAA SEATTLE REGIONAL

SEATTLE — The 2017 Sacramento State gymnastics season came to a close on Saturday as four Hornets competed at the NCAA Seattle Regional. Lauren Rice tied for eighth place and Caitlin Soliwoda was 10th in the all-around to lead the team. The Hornets also received a tie for seventh from Julia Konner on vault.

Top-ranked Oklahoma won the team title with an impressive total of 198.075. The Sooners advanced to the NCAA Championships along with host Washington which scored 196.550. Freshman Maggie Nchols won the all-around with a four-event score of 39.750. Nichols was also first on floor (9.950) and tied for first on vault (9.950) and beam (9.950).

Rice tied for eighth place with a total of 39.050 and will be the second alternate for the championships in the all-around. The junior scored 9.675 on vault, 9.850 on bars and beam and 9.675 on floor. Her highest finish in an event came on beam where she tied for seventh place.

Caitlin Soliwoda scored 9.800 on vault, 9.775 on bars, 9.675 on beam and 9.775 on floor to finish at 39.025.

Konner capped her career by tying her season high on vault with a 9.850. That score tied her for seventh place in the event. Courtney Soliwoda competed on beam as an individual specialist where she scored 9.800.
