SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State head gymnastics coach Randy Solorio announced the signings of Mariah York, Jordyn Brent and Courtnee Marquez to National Letters of Intent. All three will enroll at the University as freshmen in the fall of 2017.

York trained at Gold Medal Gymnastics in Chandler, Ariz. In the spring of 2016, she was dominant on bars, placing first at the Arizona Grand Invitational, the Winterfest Invitational and Cactus Cup. She was also second at one meet and finished second twice on floor and in the all-around. While competing in Level 10, her high scores were 9.650 on bars, 9.625 on beam and 9.575 on floor.

"Mariah is powerful on floor and vault," Solorio said. "She has the potential to be a good all-arounder."

Brent qualified for the 2016 Junior Olympics on vault while representing All Olympia Gymnastics Center. At the Level 10 Regionals, she finished second on bars, fourth on vault and third in the all-around. She also had success at the SoCal State Championships, placing third on vault, fifth on bars and sixth on floor.

"Jordyn has good lines," Solorio said. "She also could develop into an all-arounder for us in the future."

Marquez also competed at the 2016 Junior Olympics where she set a career best with a total of 37.025 in the all-around. During the season. she tied for sixth on floor and was eighth on vault and beam at the Region I Championships. Marquez was also fourth on bars at the Nevada State Championships while competing for Gymcats Gymnastics.

"Bars is Courtnee's strength," Solorio said. "She has big release moves and is very consistent. She should also make an immediate impact on beam and floor."

Sacramento State will hold its annual Flipfest intrasquad meet on Friday, Dec. 9, at 7 p.m. in The Nest. The team's first official competition for the 2017 season will come at the NorCal Classic on Mon, Jan. 9. This year's meet will be hosted by Cal and will start at 7 p.m.
