  • GYMNASTICS TEAM, NINE INDIVIDUALS RECOGNIZED BY COACHES ASSOCIATION

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team and nine individual gymnasts earned all-academic honors from the National Association of Collegiate Gymnastics Coaches. The Hornets finished the 2015-16 academic year with a team grade point average of 3.326 to rank among the top 40 programs in the country.

    Sacramento State's Kalliah McCartney and Lauren Rice narrowly missed advancing to the NCAA Championships as both scored 39.150 to tie for seventh place in the all-around at the NCAA Salt Lake Regional on Saturday at the Huntsman Center. The pair missed claiming the final at-large berth to the NCAA Championships in the all-around by .125.
  • FOUR GYMNASTS TO COMPETE AT NCAA REGIONAL

    Four members of the Sacramento State gymnastics team will continue their 2016 season at the NCAA Salt Lake City Regional on Saturday, April 2, at 5 p.m. PDT. The Hornets will be represented by all-arounders Kalliah McCartney and Lauren Rice and individual event specialists Cassie Benning and Julia Konner.
  • GYMNASTICS WINS MPSF CHAMPIONSHIP, McCARTNEY SETS RECORD

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team recorded the second best score in school history to claim the 2016 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation team title on Saturday night at The Nest. The Hornets totaled 196.300 to set the MPSF Championships record and win the conference crown for the fifth time in its last eight attempts (2002-05, 2013-16).

  • GYMNASTS EARN 15 ALL-MPSF HONORS

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team earned 11 first team and four second team all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honors, it was announced today. The gymnast with the highest RQS from each school and the next six best scores earned all-MPSF accolades. The top six scores among the 12 were named to the first team.
  • GYMNASTICS SCORES 195.425, RICE WINS ALL-AROUND

    Lauren Rice tied her career high and finished first in the all-around and Sacramento State recorded its second best score of the season with a 195.425 in a three-team meet on Friday at UC Davis. Cal, which entered the meet ranked 14th nationally, finished first with a 197.500 while also responsible for all four individual event champions. UC Davis was second at 196.025.

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team will compete in its final regular season meet of the season on Friday when the team makes the short trip across the Causeway to take on UC Davis and 14th-ranked Cal. The meet will begin at 7 p.m. from The Pavilion.

    Sacramento State had individuals finish first in all four events as well as the all-around during a 194.000-192.500 victory over Brown on Friday night at The Nest. The victory kept the Hornets undefeated in dual meets this season in six meets.

    Senior Kalliah McCartney tied for first place on vault and finished third in the all-around as Sacramento State finished second at the Masters Classic on Saturday night. The Hornets scored 194.875 as a team to trail only 14th-ranked Nebraska (196.400). Northern Illinois was third at 194.350 while Bridgeport finished fourth at 193.225.
  • GYMNASTICS RIDES SCHOOL RECORD INTO MASTERS CLASSIC AT NEBRASKA

    After setting the school record and returning to the top 36 nationally, the Sacramento State gymnastics team will head to Lincoln, Neb., to take part in the Masters Classic on Saturday, Feb. 27. The meet, which will also feature Bridgeport and Northern Illinois, will start at 4 p.m. PT from the Devaney Center.

    Sacramento State senior Kalliah McCartney was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week and freshman Jackie Sampson was the Newcomer of the Week, it was announced today. The pair were instrumental in helping the Hornets set a school record with a total of 196.475 in a win over San Jose State on Feb. 19.

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team posted its most complete meet of the season and set the school record in a 196.475-195.300 win over San Jose State on Friday night at The Nest. The score bettered the previous mark of 196.000 which came last season. The Spartans also set a season high in the meet.

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team could not overcome early trouble on beam and finished in third place in a three-team meet on Friday at The Centrum. Host Southern Utah, which entered the meet ranked 21st nationally, scored 195.975 to easily win the team title. BYU was second at 194.000 while the Hornets scored 193.300 — their lowest mark of the year.

    Lauren Rice tied her career high on floor and finished first on vault, bars and beam to help the Sacramento State gymnastics team to a 194.300-193.050 victory over Seattle Pacific on Friday night at The Nest. Rice totaled 39.225 after scoring 9.825 on both vault and bars, 9.850 on beam and 9.725 on floor.

    The Sacramento State gymnastics team started strong and rallied late to secure a 194.250-193.100 victory over UC Davis on Friday at The Nest. The score marked the ninth consecutive meet the team has surpassed 194 and helped the team earn 2.5 points in the Causeway Cup.

    For the first time this season, the Sacramento State gymnastics team will compete at home when the team welcomes UC Davis on Friday, Jan. 29, at 7 p.m. The Hornets have had their first three meets away from home with two at San Jose State and most recently at Seattle Pacific. Despite the challenges of life on the road, Sacramento State has responded with an average of 194.550 which places it 30th in the nation.

The team received outright victories from Kalliah McCartney in the all-around and on beam. Cassie Benning finished first on floor and tied for the top spot on bars and Julia Konner tied for first on vault.

    Sacramento State’s Lauren Rice was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week and Jesse Williams was the MPSF Specialist of the Week, it was announced today. Both earned their awards after helping the Hornets score 194.325 at the NorCal Classic on Jan. 10 at San Jose State. The team score was the highest by an MPSF team this season, places Sacramento State 27th nationally and was the second best total in a season-opening meet in program history.
