DENVER — Sacramento State's Kalliah McCartney was named the Western Athletic Conference Gymnast of the Week for the third consecutive week, it was announced today.
McCartney scored a season-high 39.350 in the team's meet at San Jose State on Jan. 25. Her score was the highest in the WAC this season and ties her for second place in school history. The Vancouver, Wash., native dominated the competition by winning beam (9.850) and floor (9.900), tying for first on vault (9.775) and placing second on bars (9.825).
McCartney's season average of 39.169 in the all-around places her 28th nationally. She also ranks third among gymnasts not from the SEC, Big Ten, Pac-12 and Big 12 conferences.
After a week off, Sacramento State will return to competition on Sunday, Feb. 10, at UCLA. which will also feature Washington and UC Davis.
