WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES THIRD AT WSU TOURNAMENT, CHEN TAKES FIFTH OVERALL

PULLMAN, Wash. — Freshman Justine Chen shot an even-par 72 and senior Annie Becker added a round of 76 to help lead the Sacramento State women’s golf team to a third-place finish at the Northwest Dodge Dealers Inland Cup on Tuesday.
The Hornets, who were tied for fourth place after the first two rounds, shot 304 on Tuesday and finished with a 54-hole total of 921. Host Washington State finished first at 881 and was followed by Nevada (903). Sacramento State was one stroke better than Big Sky foe Montana (922) while Boise State was fifth (929).
Nevada’s Melanie DeLeon claimed the medalist honor after shooting 71-69-74-214. She was followed by Washington State’s Jessica Black (72-75-69-216), Amy Eneroth (72-72-74-218) and Kristen Allard (75-74-72-221).
Chen was fifth overall with a total of 223 in her first collegiate event. Junior Brooke Green tied for seventh overall at 74-76-77-227 and sophomore Samantha Saffold tied for 27th with rounds of 79-77-79-235. Freshman Julie Shutler tied for 35th at 82-78-79-239 and Becker shot 83-87-76-246 to tie for 43rd.
Sacramento State will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 22-23) at the OSU Invite hosted by Oregon State.
