FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. — Seniors Emily Longcrier and Heather LeMaster carded the two best rounds on the team to lead Sacramento State in the second round of the La Quinta Mountain Shootout on Tuesday. Longcrier shot 75 and ended the tournament tied for seventh place. LeMaster recorded a 77 and moved into 14th place.
Host Northern Arizona broke its first-round tie with New Mexico State and defeated the Aggies by one stroke (631-632) to win the team title. San Diego State finished third at 641 while Cal State Northridge took fourth at 653. Sacramento State and San Diego State’s “Black” team tied for fifth at 654.
Individually, NAU’s Sophia Choin maintained her first-round led with a 75 on Tuesday. Choi finished at 76-75-151 to win by five strokes. Longcrier (84-75-159) and LeMaster (83-77-160) were the top two Sacramento State finishers. Kim Coppin tied for 30th at 88-81-169 and freshman Samantha Safford, who had the team’s lowest round on Monday, concluded the 36-hole event at 81-89-170. Brooke Green completed the lineup at 88-85-173 to finish 37th overall.
Sacramento State will next compete at the Bronco Fall Invitational hosted by Boise State on Oct. 8-9.
