WOMEN'S GOLF TIES FOR EIGHTH AT LADY BRAVEHEART CHALLENGE

BEAUMONT, Calif. — Senior Margaux Sheehan shot 79 in the second and final round of the Lady Braveheart Challenge to lead the Sacramento State women’s golf team on Tuesday at the Oak Valley Golf Club.
The Hornets tied for eighth place in the team standings after shooting 331 during the second round. The team’s two-day total of 324-331-655 placed it in a tie with host UC Riverside and was 34 strokes back of San Diego State which won the team title. UC Davis shot 309-322-631 to place second and Santa Clara (327-312-639) was third.
Sheehan had the top individual finish by a Hornet golfer as she placed 13th with a total of 79-79-158. Erica Yoshino tied for 28th at 83-80-163 and Emily Longcrier tied for 30th with rounds of 78 and 86. Kim Coppin (84-86-190) and Heather LeMaster (84-89-193) tied for 50th and 62nd, respectively, to complete the lineup.
UC Riverside’s Jennifer Bermingham was the medalist with a steady score of 73-73-146. Bryana Gregory of UC Davis was second at 72-78-150.
Sacramento State will next compete at the Fresno State Invitational beginning on Feb. 26.
