BRAKEL POSTS LOW ROUND FOR WOMEN'S GOLF AT WOLF PACK CLASSIC

DAYTON, Nev. — Kercia Brakel recorded a second-round 75 to lead the Sacramento State women's golf team in the final round of the Wolf Pack Classic on Tuesday at the Dayton Valley Golf Club.

The Hornets finished sixth in the 10-team field with a two-round total of 618. San Francisco finished first at 598. Sacramento State had the best finish among Big Sky Conference schools, placing eight strokes ahead of Montana.

Brakel had the best individual finish, tying for 10th at 77-75-152. Senior Julie Shutler had the second best score on the team on Tuesday and tied for 25th overall with rounds of 79-76-155.

Freshman Lexie Hall tied for 17th after shooting 76-78-154. Sagee Palavivatana tied for 31st (76-81-157) and Samantha Stockton tied for 45th (81-81-162).

Peppiina Kaija of San Francisco and Alex Buelow of Stetson tied for the medalist. Both golfers shot 73 in the opening round and followed with a two-under 70 in the second.

The tournament was shortened to 36-holes due to high winds on Monday.

Sacramento State will not compete until Nov. 1 when the team takes part in the Rainbow Wahine Invitational at the Kapolei Golf Course in O'ahu.
