JULIE SHUTLER NAMED BIG SKY GOLFER OF THE WEEK

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State’s Julie Shutler has been selected the Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week after helping the Hornets to an eighth-place finish at the Fresno State Lexus Classic.

Shutler, a freshman from Manteca, Calif., tied for 22nd with a 54-hole total of 229. Shutler shot a first-round 79 on Monday morning and followed with a 1-under-par 71 in the afternoon. She closed with a 79 on Tuesday. The 71 tied for the lowest round by a Hornet this season, and beat Shutler’s best previous collegiate round by five shots.

Sacramento State shot rounds of 308, 303 and 316 at the Copper River Country Club in Fresno. The course is a par 72 and played 6,072 yards.

This is the first Golfer of the Week honor for Shutler. She is the fourth Hornet to claim the honor this season joining Justine ChenBrooke Green and Samantha Saffold.
