SAFFOLD NAMED BIG SKY CONFERENCE GOLFER OF THE WEEK 2/18/2009 SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State’s Samantha Saffold has been selected the Big Sky Conference golfer of the week after tying for 23rd place at the San Diego State Aztec Spring Invitational. Saffold, a sophomore from Sacramento shot rounds of 77, 79, 76 for a 232 at the Salt Creek Golf Club in Chula Vista, Calif. The tournament, which was plagued by poor weather, ended on Wednesday. Saffold helped Sacramento State to an 11th-place finish in the 18-team tournament, which included 15 teams ranked among the top 100 in the nation. Sacramento State shot rounds of 308, 327 and 311 for a 946. San Jose State won the tournament with a 900. Hillary Packard of UC Irvine took medalist honors with a 218. This is Saffold’s second career player of the week honor.
