11/6/2008

OGDEN, Utah — Sacramento State’s Brooke Green has been selected as the Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week, after tying for 10th place at the Lamkin Cup/Cal Poly Invitational.

Green fired rounds of 75-76 for a seven-over-par 151 at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif., and helped Sacramento State to a second-place finish in the 18-team event. The Hornets shot rounds of 301-309 for a 610, 12 shots behind winner San Jose State.

Sacramento State’s Samantha Saffold also tied for 10th place with a 151.

Green is the second Hornet to earn the award this year, joining freshman Justine Chen who was the co-Golfer of the Week on Sept. 17.

During the four events during the fall season, Green led the team with an average of 77.2 in her 11 rounds. Her best round came at the Northwest Dodge Inland Cup where she shot 74 en route to a tie for seventh place.

The Hornets will return to action on Feb. 15 when they travel to Chula Vista, Calif., for the San Diego State Invitational.
