GREEN LEADS HORNETS IN FIRST ROUND OF LADY AZTEC CLASSIC

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Sophomore Brooke Green shot a 2-over 74 to lead the Sacramento State women’s golf team during the first round of the Aztec Fall Classic, Monday afternoon at the Salt Creek Golf Club. Green is tied for seventh place heading into the final round and helped lead the Hornets into a seventh-place tie.
Green’s first-round score was three strokes better than teammates Kim Coppin and Heather LeMaster who are tied for 27th overall. All three players were even through the first nine holes on Monday but had some trouble on the back nine. Freshman Samantha Saffold and senior Erica Yoshino each carded a 78 and are tied for 39th.
UC Irvine holds the team lead at the midway point. The Anteaters shot 297 and have 5-stroke lead over Hawai’i.
Individually, UCI’s Patty Chawalitmetha shot 2-under and leads teammate Kim Lorenzana and Hawai’i’s Lisa Kajihara by two strokes.
