WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES SIXTH AT WINDY BRONCO FALL INVITATIONAL

KUNA, Idaho — Wind gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour were the story of the third round at the Bronco Fall Invitational on Tuesday. The terrible conditions led to extremely high scores which saw five golfers score above 100 and only three break 80 in the final round.
Sacramento State shot 350 as a team over the final 18 holes and finished the three-round tournament in sixth place out of 13 teams. Nebraska easily won the team title after shooting 318-300-328-946. The Cornhuskers accounted for the three low rounds of the day as Allison Stewart, Kate White and Charlotte Wendner each shot 79. Kansas State was second at 957 and was followed by Wyoming (978), Boise State (989) and Portland (994).
The Hornets’ total score was the best among the six Big Sky Conference teams in the tournament. Portland State tied for eighth at 1,019, Weber State shot 1,028 to finish ninth, Montana State was 10th at 1,046, Montana totaled 1,048 to place 11th and Idaho State shot 1,104 to take 12th.
Individually, Erica Yoshino maintained her team lead by shooting a squad-low 85. Yoshino finished in 15th place overall at 80-80-85-245. Kim Coppin and Samantha Safford each tied for 23rd with a three-round total of 250. Coppin shot 84-80-86 while Safford recorded rounds of 83-78-89. Junior Heather LeMaster shot 85-77-90-252 to tie for 27th place and freshman Brooke Green fired rounds of 84-83-91-258 to tie for 38th.
Stewart and Kansas State’s Michelle Regan tied for the tournament low at 233. The pair finished one stroke ahead of White.
Sacramento State will return to action for the Lady Aztec Fall Classic next week.
