SHEEHAN, PARKES AND LONGCRIER NAMED ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Three Sacramento State golfers were named all-Big Sky Conference it was announced today. The trio is comprised of senior Margaux Sheehan, who was named to the first team, and senior Jennifer Parkes and junior Emily Longcrier, who earned second team honors.
For the third consecutive season, the conference used Golf Week rankings to determine the all-conference teams. The top six players in the rankings were named to the first team while the next six were placed on the second team.
Heading into this week’s Big Sky Conference Championship, Sheehan is averaging 78.4 strokes per round. She became the first Hornet to earn first team all-Big Sky honors since 2003. The Anchorage, Alaska, native was a second-team selection last season.
Parkes and Longcrier garnered all-conference honors for the first time. A senior from Newhall, Calif., Parkes is also averaging 78.4 in 17 rounds. Longcrier is just off that pace as the Bakersfield, Calif., native is averaging 78.5.
Northern Arizona junior Sophia Choi was named the Big Sky Player of the Year for the second straight season. Weber State’s Natalie Weber was chosen as the Freshman of the Year.
Sacramento State is currently playing the first round of the Big Sky Championship. The winning team will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA West Regional.
