WOMEN'S GOLF FINISHES THIRD AT BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIPS, LeMASTER SHOOTS 70

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — The Sacramento State women''s golf team shot a tournament low 295 in the third and final round of the Big Sky Conference Championships to finish in third place. The score is the second best in school history.

Sophomore Heather LeMaster led the way for the Hornets, shooting 70 on Wednesday which tied for the lowest round of the tournament. LeMaster ended the championship in a tie for sixth place at 74-82-70-226.

Montana held on for the team title. The Grizzlies led wire-to-wire and capped their performance with a 301 on Wednesday. Northern Arizona finished at 912, eight strokes back of Montana. Sacramento State ended at 308-310-295-913 and was followed by Eastern Washington (918), Portland State (920), Montana State (931), Weber State (935) and Idaho State (958).

Montana also claimed the top two individuals. Jasi Acharya shot 73-75-71-219 to become the medalist. Krista Swanson finished second at 74-74-74-222.

On Wednesday, junior Jennifer Parkes had the second-best score on the team. Parkes shot 74 and was followed by Emily Longcrier (75), Kim Coppin (76) and Margaux Sheehan (80). Sheehan, however, had the second-best overall finish as she tied for 13th.

The tournament was the final event for the women''s team this season. During the season the team finished in the top 10 in all nine tournaments, including seven top five showings.
