WOMEN'S GOLF REMAINS IN FOURTH AFTER SECOND ROUND OF BIG SKY CHAMPIONSHIPS

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Junior Margaux Sheehan moved into sixth place at the Big Sky Championships on Tuesday after shootnig 75 to lead Sacramento State. As a team, the Hornets remained in fourth place following the second round with a total of 310. The third, and final, round of the tournament will take place on Wednesday.

Montana maintained its first-round lead despite shooting seven strokes above its opening day score. The Grizzlies fired 305 on Tuesday and are one stroke ahead of Northern Arizona. The Lumberjacks shot 296 in the second round and were the only team to break 300. Portland State is third with a two-round total of 613 followed by Sacramento State (618), Eastern Washington (621), Montana State (625), Weber State (631) and Idaho State (645).

Montana State''s Kelly Gillum shot 76 on Tuesday but remained the individual leader. Gillum''s total of 146 is one-shot better than NAU''s Ali Carter who fired a second-round low 71. Montana''s Jasi Acharya and Krista Swanson are tied for third at 148 and Chloe Nelson of Eastern Washington is fifth at 150.

Sheehan is one stroke out of the top five with rounds of 76 and 75. The Anchorage, Alaska native was one of just seven players to shoot 75 or better during the second round. Sophomores Kim Coppin and Heather LeMaster are tied for 18th. Coppin shot 77 on Tuesday while LeMaster had an 82. LeMaster, who was tied for third entering the day, was just 2-over late in her round but encountered a penalty for playing the wrong ball which led to a quadruple bogey.

Sophomore Emily Longcrier shot 78 and is tied for 20th while Jennifer Parkes is tied for 24th after an 80. Parkes did become the lone player in the field to record an eagle during the tournament as she had a three on the par-5 ninth.
